WhatsApp si fa rosa? No, è l’ennesima truffa
Google News Showcase is launching in Czechia
Google News Showcase, our new product and licensing program backed by our recent $1 billion global investment in news, will begin rolling out with Czech publishers starting today.
Czechia is the first Central and Eastern European country to launch News Showcase, and this new online experience will pay particular attention to the needs of readers who are looking for news that matters to them and their community. The publishers who are taking part at this stage include Echo Media, Economia, Forum 24, Internet Info and N media and their publications Aktuálně, Deník N, Echo24, Euro, Finance, FORUM 24, iHNed, Lupa, Měšec, Podnikatel and Respekt. These agreements take into account the rights outlined in Article 15 of the European Copyright Directive for specific online uses of press publications, which do not apply to hyperlinks and very short excerpts.
More than 600 news publications globally have now signed deals for News Showcase in more than a dozen countries, including Australia, Germany, Brazil, Canada, France, Japan, the U.K. and Argentina, with discussions underway in a number of other countries. More than 90% of the publications signed up around the world represent local, regional or community news.
“Economia has always been a pioneer in promoting paid digital content,” says Zuzana Řezníčková, the chairman of the board of directors of Economia, one of the leading economic news outlets in the Czech Republic. “The News Showcase product provides a good opportunity for this and Economia is happy to be among the first ones to check how it’ll work in the Czech market. The principles behind Google News Showcase present for us the right and fair way to distribute digital content.”
With News Showcase panels, news organizations can curate their content in a number of different ways to help readers get more context about a story and direct them to the full articles on the publishers’ websites. This drives valuable traffic to those websites, enabling them to grow their audiences and deepen their relationships with readers.
“We believe that Google News Showcase will allow us to present the quality news content of Deník N to a large audience in an innovative and attractive way,” says Ján Simkanič, publisher of Deník N, the Czech independent daily newspaper. “And we hope that many visitors will become our subscribers, for whom trusted content is an important value.”

Eat your way across Russia
Spanning 17 million square kilometers and 11 time zones, Russia is teeming with taste. The stunning landscapes of the Southern District are littered with vineyards. The Northwest has a growing reputation for seafood, and a long-standing tradition for the innovative culinary use of cod liver. Siberia is abounding with pelmeni (known as “the heart of Russian cuisine”), as well as rustic flavors with roots in hunting–such as smoked wild meats with taiga herbs, fruity, berry-laden accompaniments and sliced raw fish (stroganina). And, of course, Moscow and St. Petersburg, cosmopolitan centres of fine cuisine, have it all.
Russian national cuisine spans cultures, ethnic groups and influences across borders. To show the country’s culinary heritage, Google Arts & Culture teamed up with The Federal Agency for Tourism in Russia and cultural partners Mosfilm cinema concern, The State Tretyakov Gallery and The State Russian Museum to create, “Eat Your Way Across Russia,” a digital hub that showcases stories and traditions from more than 20 regions, highlights over 100 restaurants and iconic gastronomic points across the country and introduces 11 chefs, experts and food enthusiasts. They helped to put all these pieces into one delicious puzzle that includes 65 online exhibitions about Russia’s food culture and more than 1000 images and videos from different parts of the country.
The Tastes and Regions
Discover the flavors of Russia through the unique plates of Russia’s regions. Visit Siberia and explore its culture of hunters, game dishes and the local tea. Or the Volga region with ukha soup and the variety of dumplings called manty/manti that came from the former Soviet Asia. Or the Central region with its food luxuries (e.g. Leo Tolstoy’s dessert). Don’t forget “the Venice of the North,” or St. Petersburg, and the local “pyshki,” deep-fried ring-shaped donut-like buns that became the symbol of the city. And go to the edge of the world for gems of Russia’s Far Eastern cuisine — Kamchatka crab, Sakhalin caviar or Kyorchekh, Yakutia’s best-known dessert. Yes, it’s so easy to get lost among all these tastes, but our guides are here to help! Food connoisseurs and restaurateurs prepared their stories on what they love about Russian cuisine.
The Specialities
A special section of the exhibition is dedicated to Soviet tastes. Besides the well-known borshch, syrniki with smetana, blini and oladyi, it unpacks other curiosities of Russian Soviet cuisine that truly became a cultural code – cutlets, okroshka, tvorog rings (a local variation of eclairs and profiteroles), ponchiks (donuts) and condensed milk. Sounds delicious? The exhibits will also guide you through the backstage of the production of Russia’s gastronomic hallmarks, Kolomna pastila and pelmeni, and take you for art walks through the local farm.
The Drinks
Thirsty for more? Explore the section about Russia’s wine, craft beer and cocktails that beats all the stereotypes about the bar culture in the country. The exhibits tell stories about nastoika culture and its origins in the 19th-century liqueur making, reconstruct a 300-year history of kvass and highlight the key moments of the craft revolution led by local beer, cider and medovukha. Or do you prefer tea? Find out more about how tea got to Russia and how it stayed. Or maybe you have an appetite for art? Explore meals of classical Russian literature, see the Russian fairy tales through a foodie’s eyes, or spend a day with Russian paintings to see a traditional Russian feast. The projects also highlight the traditions of khokhloma, gzhel, imperial porcelain, crystal and other tableware that was used for Russian banquetes.
Explore Russia’s delicious range of flavors and traditions on the Google Arts & Culture website or our free Android or iOS app and join the conversation using the hashtag #eatacrossrussia.
Sony ci ripensa: PS Store per PS3 e Vita resta aperto
Contrordine.

Bring iconic Japanese characters to life with AR in Search
We all need a bit of escapism sometimes, and there’s nothing like a blast from the pop-culture past to do the trick. Today, we’re bringing characters from classic Japanese anime, games and TV shows to life — from Pac-Man to Hello Kitty — with augmented reality (AR) in Search.
Japan’s anime and video game culture emerged between the 1950s and the 1980s, as comic books, gaming arcades and home TVs and consoles boomed. But it wasn’t just a Japanese phenomenon. The most iconic characters caught people’s imaginations around the world, and they’re still hugely popular today.
Which animated icon is most searched on Google? Pac-Man leads the pack by a long way: worldwide search interest in the hungry dot-gobbler is more than double the next most-searched character, Hello Kitty. What might surprise you is that the top country for search interest in Pac-Man over the past five years was…Peru. Hello Kitty is most searched in the Philippines.
When it comes to the broader trends, anime wins out. It’s more popular than video games worldwide, with interest for anime climbing to its highest peak on record in the past month. That’s pretty amazing — and in fact, search interest for “anime sugoi” (or “anime is amazing”) has spiked 2,300% in the past five years globally.

Heartbeat of the Earth: interpreting our planet’s data
What can Jellyfish teach us about climate change, what happens to disposed plastic and what species will be lost as temperatures rise? As these questions mount, artists are helping us to see and understand what the data makes clear.
A year ago, and in collaboration with Google Arts & Culture we (the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change – UNFCCC) launched “Heartbeat of the Earth” – four interactive and educational experiments by artists exploring scientific climate data.
Today, as we approach Earth Day, we’re sharing a new set of climate experiments created by artists Giorgia Lupi, Felicity Hammond, Cristina Tarquini and Sey Min. They invite you to learn about the challenges our climate faces through creative data visualisations and interactive scenarios that help us learn more about these topics.
Get ready for Hollywood’s big night with Google
Sure, spring is nice, and there’s so much to celebrate in the winter but my favorite season is easily awards season! 2021 marks 93 years of Hollywood’s annual film celebration, and this year’s Academy Awards will be a combination of in-person and virtual.
Ahead of the big night every year, my friends and I try to watch all of the new nominees, along with some of our favorite past winners. With the help of Google Search, we’re able to keep track of everything we want to watch, as well as check titles off once the credits roll. Starting today, you’ll find a brand new carousel of 2021 nominated movies when searching for “what to watch.” And on Google TV, we’re featuring collections that highlight nominees and 20 years of award-winning women.
